My husband is a Cub Scout leader. While this doesn't seem odd in and of itself, when you know anything about my husband, you know this is terribly terribly wrong.
My husband isn't your scary, "Hey there little cub, come sleep in my tent and share my sleeping bag," kinda Scout leader. No, he is, a) a %&*@ the system kinda guy b) has no social skills outside of his own family c)doesn't understand the concept of planning ahead d) gets agitated when there are large groups of hyperactive children and e) looks like Anton LaVey.
As of right now, he has 32 minutes until he needs to leave for the meeting. He has our coffee table covered in loose leaf papers that he has failed to put into a binder for the last 4 months, trying to decide what he wants to teach tonight. I guess at the very least, he will teach a group of 20 six year old boys that it is really OK to fly by the seat of your pants, and that procrastination is a legitimate way of life. I decided to ask him what his plan for the night was.
Me: So have you decided what you are going to do tonight?
Donny: That thing... with the book.
Me: Uh-huh?
Don: The thing, the scrap book thing.
Ah, yes, the scrap booking thing. Just what every 6 year old wants to do in Boy Scouts. To justify things, it was NOT my husband's idea, but his female co-den leader's. Why do they do that? My son joined Boy Scouts so he could shoot a gun and own a folding knife. He knows what's up. Women shouldn't be allowed to teach scouting, especially if they are going to make boys scrap book! Scrap booking is a pussy thing to do!
They should be out in the wilderness, learning what bugs are safe to eat, what plants will give you the shits, what plants will give you poison oak on your bum if you use it after getting the shits from another plant, that kind of stuff. That is at least useful, assuming they get stranded in the woods anyway. At the very least, they should learn how to whittle a swallow out of a piece of driftwood. It might not be useful, but it's something a man would do! But no, they are led by a woman...and my husband.
Would you trust this man with your children??
